Loft, New York, NY

This 1,000 square foot co-op in 1920’s building in Midtown Manhattan was designed for a painter and a writer as their primary residence.

The long, narrow floor plate with windows on three sides was gutted and renovated to create an open, flexible space with storage, bathrooms, and kitchen organized along the ‘solid’ wall. The colorful palette was developed from the painter’s recent works and the hues of the surrounding buildings.

Project Elements:

Compact, efficient living spaces

Re-using existing buildings

Natural materials
